Importance:
This land is an important component in creating an east-west link between areas of core reserves in the west at Lake Mathews/Estelle Mountain, Alberhill, and Cleveland National Forest and French Valley, Johnson Ranch, Diamond Valley Lake and the San Jacinto Mountains in the east.

Wildlife and habitat value:
This land has become a part of a link that is home to 50 pairs of coastal California gnatcatcher, and serves as a connection to other key populations of gnatcatcher known to occur in Alberhill, North Peak and the Ramsgate areas.

The link is also habitat for the Quino checkerspot butterfly, Stephens' kangaroo rat, and bobcat. The grasslands occurring within link also provide foraging habitat for a number of raptors. Maintenance of large intact interconnected habitat blocks is important for these species.
