Grades 5-8
As part of RCA’s The 146 Project, kids can complete a list of required activities to earn a certificate and choice of patch. Required activities will depend on the grade school level. Please review the appropriate requirements for each grade level listed below.

Activities
1. Visit one of the eight recreational areas listed on this webpage: www.wrc-rca.org/recreational-opportunities
Check hours of operation and possible parking fees.
At the recreation area, take a short hike and learn about plants and animals protected there using information from the website or signs posted at the recreation area.
2. Get to know the RCA and MSHCP by reading the About the RCA page and learn more about habit conservation and protection of 146 native species in western Riverside County.
3. Complete all three activities outlined below.
4. Once all three activities have been completed, submit your project using the button below.
Activity 1: Quiz

Take the “Test Your Knowledge” quiz.
Activity 2: Drawing

- Create an 8″ x 11″ size drawing about a protected species (view list).
- Include three facts about the species on the drawing.
- Take a photo or scan your drawing and attach it your submission form.
Activity 3: Report

Write a one-page report about why land conservation and protecting species is important.
Your report should also contain information about a species that is being protected in Riverside County. The species should be different than the one you chose for your drawing in Activity 2.
