Oak & Riparian Woodland Habitat Restoration Volunteer Event

Apr 30, 2025 | MSHCP, Volunteer

The Western Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority (RCA), in partnership with the Rivers & Lands Conservancy and the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District (RivCo Parks), will host a volunteer event to help restore oak and riparian woodland on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. in San Timoteo Canyon in the City of Calimesa!

Participating volunteers will assist with a variety of hands-on activities, such as watering oak planting sites and removing invasive plants from throughout the area, to restore habitat for the diversity of wildlife that live in the oak and riparian woodlands of San Timoteo Canyon. The volunteer work will involve walking approximately 1-3 miles over uneven, dirt terrain. All ages welcome.

During the event, volunteers will work at the Cienega Canyon Preserve, which is managed by the Rivers & Lands Conservancy, and the Oak Valley Partners property, owned by the RCA. These lands are home to several MSHCP-covered species, including the federally and state Endangered least Bell’s vireo and California Fully Protected white-tailed kite.

Interested volunteers must RSVP ahead of time to Angie at aleon@riversandlands.org to reserve a spot and for more event details. Space is limited, so save your spot today!
